What is an sEMG scan? SEMG technology measures the difference in electrical activity of muscles around the spine to detect nerve and muscle damage. It’s a similar process to ECG or EKGs that measure heart rhythms and patterns, but instead it detects damaged nerves or muscles. Many people come into our chiropractic office looking for relief from chronic back pain, neck pain, sciatica, headaches and migraines – all are caused by spinal misalignments that can be corrected with chiropractic care! At Epic Life Chiropractic we use surface electromyography (sEMG) scanning as an alternative approach in diagnosing health problems and determining their severity before beginning treatment plans.

Chiropractors are often asked to do ROM testing during a patient evaluation. What is ROM testing?

ROM testing, or Range of Motion testing, is a commonly used technique by chiropractors. When chiropractors perform range of motion testing, they evaluate a patient’s balance, coordination, flexibility, strength, and stamina.

– If a chiropractor observes that one side of the patient is weaker than the other, they may recommend them to work with an occupational or physical therapist.

– ROM testing can also be used on stroke patients who have suffered from paralysis in their arms and legs. The test gives information about how much weakness exists in certain muscles because it tests ranges beyond just flexing at elbows and knees.
