Dr Jeff and Kerry care so much about their patients. By the second visit they already remembered and greeted me by name. Being injured in an accident is difficult, but they made the healing process so comfortable. I would recommend them to anyone I know who needs chiropractor care.

Epic Life Chiropractic truly cares about you! Every time I'm there, the staff is so nice and makes me feel important. Scheduling is super easy, and I always find a time that works. The outstanding care is delivered with compassion, and I really feel like I've found a place where I'm truly valued. I had a bulging disc in between my L5 and S1 and for months I tried yoga, other chiropractors, PT, and alternating heat and cold on my back with little results. Dr.Jeffrey looks at the back as a system and seeks to align the system instead of spot treating the source of pain.
Epic Life Chiropractic is like a hidden gem! The team is just fantastic-they really went above and beyond to make me feel valued and super comfy. Every visit feels like I'm catching up with friends who just happen to be experts at what they do. Plus, the location is great, and parking is easy-peasy. The care is truly outstanding, delivered with compassion, and I always feel like I'm in the best hands possible. They really know their stuff!

Epic Life Chiropractic is a really nice place! The staff is super warm and they know their stuff. I've been getting treatment for my spinal ligament injuries and it's helped me feel much more comfy in my day-to-day life. The provider delivers exceptional, compassionate care, and I always feel like they truly care about how I'm doing. Walking in feels like getting a hug from people who've got your back-literally!

Andrea is a great help and always kind when scheduling/adjusting appointments. Dr Jeff does a great job listening to patients, and adjusting on both a scheduled and as-needed basis.
Great chiropractor care with excellent service. They not only identified a solution to fix my chronic shoulder issues that has been present for years, they gave me proper treatment and direction on exercises to help mitigate any future problems.
I am so happy to have found this place! I came here because I believe the tools and techniques Dr. Jeff uses are safer/better than the traditional “cracking” method many practitioners use. I love Dr. Jeff’s holistic approach, always with good advice & ideas regarding exercises or nutrition to support the wellness goals you are trying to achieve. When I started coming here I was in very bad pain and losing functionality from a bad auto accident. Dr. Jeff was able to restore my functionality and slow down the migraines I get in relation to multiple causes. He has a patient, compassionate, very knowledgeable and sometimes humorous approach and leads by example. He is always willing to listen and help out where he can. His staff is wonderful as well. Andrea is always warm and welcoming and on top of her job. She goes out of her way to be helpful and is a wonderful asset to the practice. I always have confidence coming here that I will get top notch expertise and care!
Since starting with Dr. Jeff my body has felt so much more relaxed; I don’t have to constantly think about how tense I feel anymore. He has done a great job educating me about what areas we’re targeting, why and what the long term effects are!
Spinal Decompression at Epic Life Chiropractic
Disc problems can make sitting, walking, and sleeping hard. Some people hear that surgery is the next step. Others get tired of shots and pills that wear off. Spinal decompression gives you another path to try first.
Dr. Jeff Grosskopf uses the Back on Trac system, a computer controlled machine cleared by the FDA. It treats your spine with slow, gentle stretching and does not use drugs or incisions.
- A gentle option before surgery
- No drugs and no incisions
- Computer controlled and precise
- Cleared by the FDA
How Decompression Takes Pressure Off Your Spine
Traction pulls on your spine. Decompression does more than that. The machine stretches you in slow cycles and then relaxes you, which lowers the pressure inside the disc. That change does two things for you.
- It pulls pressure off the nerve. A bulging disc can move back toward its center, which gives the nerve around it more room.
- It draws fluid into the disc. Oxygen, water, and nutrients flow in, and that supports healing in a disc that has dried out or worn down.

The Equipment in Our Wauwatosa Office
Many older machines hold you down with tight straps. Your muscles tend to tighten against them, and that works against the treatment. That is why Dr. Jeff picked the Back on Trac system for our office.
- You sit and lean back with no heavy straps, so your body stays relaxed.
- We aim the stretch at a specific level of your lower back or neck.
- Built in heat and vibration loosen the muscles around your spine during the session.
Problems Decompression Can Help With
Decompression works best on problems that start with a disc or a crowded nerve. You may be a good fit if you have any of these.
Bulging and Herniated Discs
A disc that pushes out can press on a nerve. Decompression aims to ease that pressure.
Sciatica
Pain, numbness, or tingling that runs down your leg often starts in the lower back. We look for the disc or nerve that causes it.
Worn Discs
Discs lose height and fluid with age and strain. Decompression helps them take in fluid again.
Narrowed Spinal Canal
When the space around the nerves gets tight, you feel it as pain or weakness. Gentle stretching can open up some of that room.
Irritated Spinal Joints
Small joints in the spine can swell and ache after an injury or years of wear. Decompression takes strain off them.
How We Pair Decompression With Your Adjustments
Decompression eases pressure on the disc, but it does not explain why your spine got stressed in the first place. Dr. Jeff looks for that cause. He uses the Torque Release Technique to adjust your spine with a gentle handheld instrument, and he uses MyoVision scans to see how your muscles and posture respond.
Together, these tools aim to relieve your pain and help it stay away. Your plan can also include simple exercises that keep your spine strong between visits.
What Happens at Your Visits
We keep every step comfortable, and we explain what we are doing as we go.
Your Exam and Imaging
Dr. Jeff reviews your history and any MRI or X ray images you have. He also checks your spine and nerves to make sure decompression fits your case.
Getting Settled
You sit on the Back on Trac chair and lean back. We set the machine to the part of your spine that needs care.
The Session
The machine stretches and relaxes your spine in slow cycles. A session runs about 10 to 15 minutes, and many patients relax enough to doze off.
Finishing Up
Before you leave, we may guide you through light movement or apply cold therapy so the area settles.
Who Should Not Have Decompression
Decompression is safe for most people, but it does not suit everyone. We do not use it for patients who have spinal fusion hardware, severe osteoporosis, or pregnancy. Dr. Jeff screens you during your exam, and he will tell you plainly if another kind of care fits you better.
If you want to know whether you qualify, schedule an exam and ask him.
About Dr. Jeff Grosskopf

Spinal Decompression Questions
Does spinal decompression hurt?
Most patients describe it as a gentle stretch. You stay seated and relaxed, and you can tell us right away if anything feels wrong.
How long does a session take?
Plan on about 10 to 15 minutes on the machine. Your first visit takes longer because Dr. Jeff starts with your exam.
How many sessions will I need?
That depends on your condition and how your body responds. Dr. Jeff gives you a care plan after your exam and updates it as you improve.
Can I have decompression if I have a herniated disc?
Yes, a herniated disc is one of the main reasons people try it. Dr. Jeff checks your imaging and exam results first to confirm it is safe for you.
Who should not have spinal decompression?
We do not use it for patients with spinal fusion hardware such as rods or screws, severe osteoporosis, or pregnancy. Dr. Jeff screens every patient before the first session.
Do I need a referral or imaging?
You do not need a referral to schedule an exam. If you already have MRI or X ray images, bring them so Dr. Jeff can review them.
Will my insurance cover it?
Coverage depends on your plan. Call our office and we will check your benefits before you begin. You can also read about insurance and billing.
